Jim Goddard Runs to Raise Funds for Jersey Care Leavers PDF Print E-mail

In 2006, Jim ran a marathon to raise money for the Care Leavers' Association. This year, he is running another marathon, this time to raise funds for our sister organisation, The Jersey Care Leavers' Association (JCLA).

Many people will be well aware of the child abuse scandal that erupted on Jersey early in 2008. The issue has since dropped from the media. However, everyone with knowledge of the issues agrees that there was widespread abuse of children in care on Jersey in past decades. The JCLA was set up to represent the victims of past abuse on the island, along with others who grew up in care there, and to offer support.

BBC Reports CLA Pledge of support to victims of abuse in Jersey PDF Print E-mail

The Care Leavers' Association has pledged its support to survivors of abuse in Jersey. In the next few weeks the CLA will visit Jersey, with the aim of helping to set up a CLA local group on the island.

Today, Jim Goddard was interviewed by BBC Jersey about the organisation's plans.

JCLA's Vice Chair on BBC Radio Jersey PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday, Jersey police announced that there was no evidence of murder having been committed at Haut de la Garenne. Early this morning vice-chair of the Jersey Care Leavers' Association (JCLA), Eireann, was interviewed on BBC Radio Jersey to give her view on the recent developments.
